I have been immersed in eCommerce and websites for the last 6 years or so and all too often I have seen businesses focus on just one identified aspect of their site, when in reality there are other equally important issues that should be addressed. It is from this experience that I developed my 3 pillar approach to website success
Oftentimes a small business simply does not have the resources to focus on their website. Responsibility for a site may sit with the Sales and Marketing Manager, or even the overall business owner. There is so much opportunity for a business to improve their site and consequently their business, that I set up my consultancy to help do just that.
Although my background is as an experienced website specialist, I also have extensive expertise across the related areas of Marketing, Sales Planning, and Product Management.
As such I am able to view a business from multiple sides and not just from the viewpoint of the website. As a website consultant, this can be invaluable in ensuring that the needs of all aspects of your business is assessed and integrated, when developing strategies and tactics for your website.
I also have experience as a trainer and have developed and delivered related training programmes. This means that I am apt to talk and communicate in straight forward English!
My main sector specialism is the Hotels Sector although if you are not a hotelier, do not be swayed away as most principles are exactly the same and I have experience of working across other sectors such as publishing, consultancy, and online services.
An ethical approach to SEO
I firmly believe in an ethical approach to search engine optimisation and do not agree with what has been coined black hat tactics.
What this means is that I will help you optimise your website for search engines without losing sight of the fact that your human visitors are ultimately who will make your site successful. I will not suggest short term tactics that are designed to fool the search engines, as your site is simply likely to be penalized at some point. Instead I will help you build the basis for ongoing strength, that should not be prone to search engine algorithm changes and nuances (although nothing can be guaranteed in the world of search engines, and if any agency or econsultancy tells you otherwise, then be wary!)
My background
I have worked within a marketing/ecommerce environment in the hospitality industry for over 15 years.
My related qualifications include an MA in Marketing, and a Digital Marketing Diploma. I am also a member of the IDM (Institute of Direct Marketing).
Previous employment has included
- Senior Director eCommerce for Utell Hotels & Resorts (Pegasus Solutions),
- a variety of sales planning and marketing roles at Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts
- initial management training followed by marketing roles Forte Hotels.
I also spent some time as a hospitality consultant for Deloitte & Touche
